So running has been difficult lately. I had every intention to conquer the 6 miler all this week and I have not ran once. Yes I have done the elliptical, but my workouts have went to nothing it seems. I had a lot of DRs appointments and early mornings, that getting up earlier than 545 to get my run in, seemed unreal. So of course I feel fat and huge and want to run, but no, I'm at work. Blah. I don't think I am lacking in motivation, it's just been a rough time this past week with my schedule.
I had laser surgery today. And I have not told anyone but my few close friends. So me putting it on a blog is a big deal to me, even though no one reads this. lol. So here is my vent session of it (veering off of running for a hot sec..)...my face is on fire! It was so weird! First off, I had to shave my face last night. Yeah, SHAVE MY FACE! Crazy. Then I went in and they put this cold goo on my face and then had me put on goggles, which were like the ones people wear when they go tanning. The DR said that its going to feel like he's pinching my skin. I was like, OK I can handle that. So they lay me down and all i feel is warm pressure going over my face very slowly, with a constant beeping in the background. Then I feel it. So it's not a pinch, it's a quick pinch that stings deep down into your face. I quench and ball my fists up...water is coming into my eyes. But he took breaks and let me get my breathing back plenty of times. He would talk to me and ask me questions, so he was super comfortable and it was nice to know that he was since I was flipping out on the inside. There was one time when I had to ask him to stop for a sec because I needed a break, and he was totally fine with it (even suggested me telling him when to stop before the procedure). Then before long it was over, took about 15 minutes. That's it. My face is now red and partially swollen. I go back in a month to do it all again. lol Oh joy. Overall, I am so happy I am finally getting this done. After years of getting made fun of for dark facial hair, and treating it myself with store-brand products, I'm glad to say I'm on my way to a happier face :)
I thank the Lord for giving people the education and skills to do this kind of work. I thank Him that everything went well and smoothly. All glory to God.

remembering to thank God that I can run
Today was a great run. Besides the fact that the weather is breaking records for being so warm in January in Michigan, as a runner I'm happy. I cannot seem to find a 5 mile loop though. I can find a 4.5 and 6, but no 5 yet. lol Maybe I'll just skip the 5 mile for this week and do 6 milers for the next 2 weeks. I didn't even think my body could handle 6 miles well yet, but it did.
I ran into town and back in 53:42 for 6.03 miles. The weather was warmer than normal, but as i run into the city, the temp gets warmer and warmer, so I sweat a lot. BUT THEN, i have to run back out into the country to finish my run, and I'm instantly cold. Kinda funny, kinda not.
But all in all, I am happy...but I still need to watch out for my knee...can't have it blowing out on me.
GOAL: technically it's 23 or 24 miles because you never fun the full marathon (26.2mi) before the race, you wait until race day. So let's say 24mi is my goal...I'm officially a quarter of the way there. All glory to God. Seriously.

no pain, no gain..psh
Today's run absolutely sucked and I don't know why. I ran into town at around 7:20 for a 5 miler, because this is my week of conquering the 5 mile. But HOLY COW! It killed me. Maybe it was the 20 degrees outside that my lungs were not used to, but it sucked. I had to stop a few times not because I was in pain, but I just needed to reset my mind. So maybe I didn't have my head in the game, I don't know. Anyways, I didn't even run a full 5 miles.
4.78 in 43:17
Yesterday, I ran in Southfield for 4.06 miles in 34:40. Super scary run because I have never ran in Southfield by myself, but I did get to see a sweet buck. :)
So maybe I'll give myself a recovery day tomorrow and do the elliptical. Who knows.

eatin' up dirt, spittin' out miles
I was a slacker yesterday and took my first day off. No running and no elliptical. I had a horrible day at work and it was the night after saying good bye to Kelsey :( and I was very tired. I crashed at 10pm.
But this morning I got up and a, really happy that I found a route that is exactly 4 miles. It's down and back on my road, twice. But a loop in between. It took me 36:10 to run. So I'm averaging 9 minute miles, which to me...suck. But its about 20 degrees outside and I hope that once warmer weather comes, I'll bring that down. I'm also afraid of falling on the ice and getting injured, since my road is a complete sheet of ice.
On Jan. 3rd, I ran 3.72 (no loop) in 33:41.
This week I want to have 4 miles done. to be happy and not tired after running 4 miles. I think I can do that, if I'm careful nto to injure my knees. I have patella tendonitis, and if I'm not careful I can blow out my knees, again. Next week is 5.

2012
Today is the beginning of a new year. 2011 wasn't bad for me, yet it probably was the worse. I had many many failures that I feel do not overcome my accomplishments. I feel that I didn't grow in God as much as I would have liked, but I definitely gained lots of wisdom from Him (so maybe that counts..?).
This year I do not have any resolutions that are normal. There are things I would like to do in the year 2012 instead. These things are run a marathon, learn to play piano again, and go on a missions trip. And I think I am going to try to read the Bible in a year, but I already have doubts, because I have tried and failed at that one before.
Anyways, I got up today and ran 3.73 miles on 34:26. I went down the road and back twice, and then walked the circle. I didn't really care about my time today, just wanted a very easy run. Weather was nice, yet weird because it's January and it was like at least 45 degrees outside, so weird.
Now off to coffee and devos. :]
